ParticipantHello Code D,
for sure there will be other pieces of software developed with the time just as strategy quant or any other. The thing is that EA Studio and FSB Pro are so ahead of their competition that I do not think that in the next 10 years anyone can create anything better. And they are being updated all the time. There is a Normalizer from yesterday….have you ever heard of that? 🙂

ParticipantPetko’s videos are always helpful. I always watch some courses from time to time and I find always something I have missed.
Especially, the walk forward optimization course, I have watched it over 5 times…

ParticipantHey Traderaw,
thanks indeed! Yes, I see now that there are consecutive losses and profits.
I am thinking of a new system to place the EAs trading on the live account. If I generate EAs with consecutive losses 7, for example, I would then keep the EAs in the live account until there are 7 consecutive losses. If this happens I would remove the EAs from the live account.
How does this sound?

ParticipantHey Simon,
you got it pretty correct!
If the Walk Forward finishes with a better equity line this gives us the idea that the original strategy is not over-optimized.
And at the end, it does a complete backtest with the final parameters. If the complete backtest is a better strategy, we can use it. We have simply a better strategy and it is not over-optimized one. Because of the optimizer work just for the last segment, not for the whole period. The backtest is on the whole period.
After that walk forward optimization course from Petko, this thing got clearer for me 🙂

ParticipantHey Petko, thanks for updating this course with the updated videos! It was a good thing to go over them once again!

ParticipantHello traders,
I hope everyone is doing great. Many of you asked me about some of the updates in EA Studio so I have listened to you and uploaded 3 new lectures in the Forex strategy course – Portfolio trading strategies + 12 Expert Advisors about the most important updates that we have.
Those updates really improve the strategies we generate and if you are willing to use them, I am sure these videos will help you a lot.
The lectures’ names are:
Detailed Statistics added for EA Studio
R – squared
Walk Forward Optimization
Wish you safe trading!

ParticipantYeah, I did already. In the first week was not that good but this week I see some great profits 🙂 If they continue I think I will do more trading indexes and not currencies. Or I will just combine them…

ParticipantHey Petko,
thanks for making this clearer. I got it now. I am surprised that in FX blue there are no so many statistics as within EA Studio. It’s a statistical website and EA Studio shows you more about the strategies… 🙂
Anyway, I wish there was such a feature in EA Studio where we can track the performance of the Experts and we would not need to use the external website.

ParticipantHey Petko!
Very nice last video about the walk forward optimization! It has been a pain using it, just because I was not sure if I use it properly.
Now after watching that video it is much clearer for sure.
Thanks!
PS: Good point here Andi!

ParticipantMan, you really do not need such an OFF/ON option. Why will you place indicator in a strategy and then select OFF??? Give me one reason for that and I will agree with you 🙂
I do not know from where you took that picture but I am quite sure it is some quite smart guy who is selling Expert Advisors and he shared just some pictures…If this is the case do not bother trying to imitate his strategy because most probably it is not profitable in the first place. He is just selling it…

ParticipantHey Haliffa,
that sounds interesting! Did you set in the Acceptance criteria the 1000 min count of trades, or you have selected those after that in the collection? For example, placing 300 but leaving just those that are above 1000…

ParticipantI have tested the Strategy Quant as well…nothing in common with EA Studio and FSB Pro.
No Reactor there to automate the process, no Portfolio Expert Advisors. I wouldn’t imagine trading without those nowadays..

ParticipantHey Simon,
Yes, I am just out of town and getting back to the office today. I will upload the updates in the course today.
Which video exactly do you mean?
Petko Aleksandrov
ParticipantHello Mehreen,
you do not need to write any code, no need to have programming skills. This is how strategy builder work.
Automatic Magic Numbers are available with EA Studio. The thing when using automatic magic number is that you can not have really a logic into it. You can not group the EAs with assets, time frames, or anything else.
