ParticipantI had the very same question to Petko during one of the 1:1 sessions with him( I did a couple and they were all very useful).
One of the ways is exactly what you said – import the data from the other broker and check if the equity line is similar or not. It you see totally different results, you can really do a lot. If you optimize it, there is a risk of over-optimization.
If you want to take average values for the parameters (what Petko did) you need to switch between the different data sources, optimize with round numbers and acceptance criteria, and take the average values.
Let’s say the SL with one of the brokers is 80, with the other is 70, and with the third is 40. You will take average SL of 66.
That is a lot of work that I tried as well, and I figured out that I really do not need to do it for myself because I use just 2 different brokers, and I generate separate EAs for each one.
Petko does that because he provides many EAs in his courses, and he aims at providing EAs that are suitable for everyone (even that is quite impossible according to him). However, I am very impressed that he does it anyway.

MemberI see. Yes, that’s what I guessed regarding optimizing the strategies—having the risk of over-optimization.
With regards to what you’ve mentioned that I can still do a lot more things if I get to see totally different results, would you mind expounding on that? I’m interested to hear what your thoughts on that.
Yes, what Petko is doing is very commendable when it comes generating the EA’s for the courses that could be potentially used for different brokers.
Kind regards,

ParticipantHi Jay-R,
My bad, I wanted to write you can NOT really do a lot. 🙂 Just missed the “not”.
Yes, if the results are different, it means that Historical data is different and the brokers have different quotes/prices at any moment. So you can not do a lot on that…
Kind regards,

MemberIt’s alright Bart. At least, the good news is it’s lesser work to be done. Lol. I’m kidding. I love working =)

ParticipantKeep up the hard work, guys. That is the only way to success.
Many people think that Algo trading is lazy work, we put one EA in the account, and it makes us constantly profit. Well…that is not really the reality. But when the hard work is done, the results are coming.

ParticipantWould results differ from one broker to another. I have loaded the EAs you provided in one of the course on 2 MT4 platforms. One from FXTM and the other from JFD. What I’ve seen is that different trades are opened at different times. I have attached a screenshot of the platforms side by side. Have I done something wrong?

ParticipantHey Ilan,
I see that the EURGBP trade opened at the same price (2 points difference is normal).
It also opened at the same bar.
But thee different hour comes because the two brokers have different server time.
You can see below the candles the last hour is 16:00 with FXTM and with JFD it is 15:00.
You can see the server time on the top of the Market Watch as well.

ParticipantHi, I am new to the forum and use of EA Studio. I am wondering if it is possible to generate EA with Buy Stop/Sell Stop instead of Buy Limit/Sell Limit orders. Thanks.

ParticipantHello Thomas,
Welcome to the Forum!
The EA Studio works on the current market conditions. This means that all strategies open the trades when the entry conditions are met. For example, when 2 moving averages cross each other. When the next bar opens, the trade will be executed.
Using pending orders is popular if you are using Support and Resistance or price levels. But when using indicators and there is an event (crossing of the MAs) which will place a Pending Order, the market could change until the Order is executed.
In simple words, the EAs that are generated with EA Studio trading at the moment according to the current market. And this is how it should be.

ParticipantKind regards, is it possible to apply to the funding tests with the robots that the academy sends us?
What is the profitability of the robots that the academy sends us?

ParticipantHey Juan,
Glad to hear from you. Can you make your question clearer?
First, we do not send EAs to anyone 🙂 And second which EAs you mean, and what do you mean by “funding tests”?

ParticipantHello Juan,
You can use the robots for any purposes you want (only not allowed to sell them).
The performance is different every month. That is why we do not put the final performance results – there is no guarantee that next month it will be better or worse.
Also, our method is the following:
- We put the EAs on Demo accounts and follow the results
- Select the winning eas for the current market conditions based on specific rules
- Place on Live account just the Top performers
- Kepp trading on Live the EAs that perform best on Demo
So the results are different for everyone – depends on the brokers, on the system you follow to move the EAs from Demo to Live, and vice versa.
But yes, you can try the EAs on any contests.
