ParticipantTry closing your terminal and restarting it!

ParticipantI appreciate what you say Alan, but the fact remains, this Robot was sold as a means to pass the FTMO Challenge, which means it should be able to do so from the get go. The trades that were made yesterday were three sell trades, in spite of the market trend moving North, from then on the trades moved against the entry price and closed out with losses. Thank you once again.

ParticipantHas anyone else had any problem with making their backtesting work?
When I test other EAs the backtesting seems to work but I’m having a problem getting it to work with the FTMO Robot.
I checked historical data, and if the proper chart was selected, the correct date was chosen, did I have the correct inputs, and if I used crude control points for the test.
There were no errors in the journal and the backtest showed 0 trades were taken.
Has anyone else had this issue?
I would like to think it’s something simple but I can’t seem to figure it out.

ParticipantI think it’s working now.

ParticipantGlad to hear that! Unfortunately, MetaTrader is not perfect…actually, it’s a very slow program! 🙂
That is why I use EA Studio but I know it is expensive for many.
I really hope MetaQuotes will come with something new and faster. MT is 20 years old or even more…

MemberHi All!
Just wondering – if I chose to manually close a transaction, is the robot going to open future transactions based on signals?
Thanks for your input!
Petko Aleksandrov
ParticipantYes, no problem about it. The EA will detect that there is no open trade and from the moment you close the position manually it will start scanning for new trades.

MemberHello Petko,
I have some unclear issue: backtesting FTMO robot since Jan 2023 to present (Aug 2023) works perfectly. I am really excited about results. However applying the same settings back in 2022, 2021 and so on, the results vary greatly. So my question to you is: did you set the strategy based on (very) recent market conditions/moves – so should we expect constant updates of the robot so we can stay within FTMO challenge and pass it successfully in the shortest period of time?
I know there is no such robot “one size fits all” but I am a bit concern about the big historically results difference
Thanks for your feed-back!

ParticipantHi Petko, When I upload the EA file into meta trader 5 (file, expert advisor) and try to refresh in the navigator, the EA does not appears…then cannot uploaded into the chart. Any advice?
Alan Northam
ParticipantWith MT5 you need to go to the Editor. Then you need to click on the robot so you can see the source code. Then you need to click on the Compile button in the tool bar. You should now see the robot in the Navigator view.

Participanttstpierre, I’m noticing the same problem. I can use the strategy tester on MT4 but it doesn’t work on MT5. I get a similar message. The test will run but I will get 0 executions. I even tried speaking with a broker but they were unable to figure out why the EA wasn’t working.
I’ve tried several MT5 brokers but none of them work. It would be nice to have this option because some companies only use MT5 and the MT5 strategy tester is faster.
I hope he can figure this out.

ParticipantHey Bogdan,
Yes, you got it right. Usually, we backtest all of the EAs with 200 000 bars which is enough. And for M1, this is since the beginning of this year.
Many traders do not realize that backtesting M1 EA on 200 000 bars is the same as backtesting M15 EA on 200 000 bars.
The only difference is that the backtest on M1 is for the last 8 months, and for the M15 it is the last 8 years.
And yes, I will regularly update the EA whenever it’s needed.
Cheers,
Petko A

ParticipantHello
Can we trade manually (from PC) and use the FTMO EA (running on a VPS) for a live account (MFF)?
Thank youAlan Northam
