ParticipantHey Simon, most of us had these same questions, and Petko is always giving the answer, so now I will save him some work 🙂
Regarding the data, why don’t you look for another boker with more bars? I remember Jacpin shared a broker that provided 5 years of data, and she was happy with the data. I forgot the name. The other option is to use the MetaTrader-Demo data that is by default in MT. This data is very accurate. I see that Petko uses it in many videos.
Normally I use my laptop and desktop to do the generation and the actual trading. I do not use VPS. A VPS is an extra cost that you need to pay – about $15 per month minimum. I do not think that one computer or a laptop will be such an expense in electricity.
If you have a laptop just leave it running overnight. There is no problem with that.

ParticipantHello Guys,
Well i ve generated an EA using the forex historical data app from dukascopy on EA Studio, i imported the same data, to my broker mt4 platform and i made sure i customized the swap and commissions fees and all other settings on EA studio according to my broker symbol specifications, the problem is that while i am getting almost the same number of trades on EA Studio and Mt4 during backtesting for the same period, the results sill show huge difference in net profit… Is there everything else i have to look for? Knowing that i made the mt4 backtest on different modelling quality and results on all data types show difference from EA Studio…
Any help is appreciated
Regards

ParticipantHey Charbel,
Uploading a screenshot will help us see better if you have missed anything.
Did you start with the same balance (EA Studio settings) and the same lot?

ParticipantHi All,
don’t know where to ask my question, am overwhelmed, asking here and hope it is ok.
I installed the EA on a DEMO account. Struggling with the settings.
I first open the indicator Envelopes with setting 24 35%. Than I insert the EA. Do I need to insert text or numbers in the Envelopes or Expert field ?
TIA. Greetings, Lydia

ParticipantHi Lydia,
You don’t need to feel overwhelmed, we are here to help. When installing EAs into MT4 or MT5 you do not need to change any settings. The only setting you might want to change is the Lot size. Here is a video to show you how to install the EA.
If you have more questions just ask!

ParticipantThank you Alan. Whatched the video. He speaks about 30 different EAs, I have only become 1 ?
https://platform.algotradingspace.com/robots/forex/best-forex-ea-for-prop-firms/
This ist what I have, to pass the Challenge.
The name of the zipped EA is EURUSD 1H, does this mean I can only use it on EURUSD in the 1H timefrime ?
Very new in this, so need to learn a lot.
TIA

ParticipantHi Lydia,
I know the video shows Petko installing 30 EAs. Just do what he does for the first EA. Yes, the EA has to be used on the EURUSD chart and the H1 time frame.
Note: This EA has not been working for the FTMO Challenge since March 2023 as it has been losing since then. Petko updated the EA in his FTMO course but it too has been losing recently. Petko has not updated the EA recently!

ParticipantHi there,
yesterday I did some EAs with Studio and I saved some of them, the onees with better results after optimization, normalization…Â Today something strange happens, when I go to my portfolio content the results of most of the EAs I saved yesterday are awful, all with a very large DD, nothing to do with the results they showed yesterday, how is this possible?
thx

ParticipantHey team,
Thought I’d just pop in another post here. I’m quite new to EA Studio – however, I quite often see that others will remove poorly performing strategies from their accounts and not move them to live. I was wondering whether this was the best move given that you develop a portfolio so that one strategies losing streak can be compensated by another strategies winning streak. Surely by removing some strategies that are performing poorly at that given moment, we are altering the portfolio and it’s purpose.
A bit of a ramble, but I thought I would try the following as a proof of concept – and to check whether anyone has done a similar process.
I was going to produce a portfolio of 30 EA’s for a currency pair. Let’s use EURUSD as an example. I’ll perform the following:
- When generating the strategies I’ll make sure that I set the END DATE in the horizon tab to be one month prior to today’s current date. I’ll then perform a generation test with 10% OOS. I’ll pick the best 30 strategies from this result. Especially those that showed promise when OOS.
- I’ll now load that collection and change the horizon date to be TODAY and then refresh the collection to see how it would’ve performed for the last month.
I’ll be interested to then see what percentage of strategies in that collection performed well. Whether it was only 30% of them, 50% etc. From this perspective, I should gain a better understanding of how quickly you can determine whether a strategy is going to perform well or not.
Has anyone performed this before, and can shine any light on the results? I am currently going through the generation process so it’ll be another 1-2 days before I can test this theory.
Thanks,
Stephen
